Tree of Life

A friend of mine asked me to paint her pregnant belly cast.  At first I said no.  In fact I said no a few times.  Then one day she just brought it over and said she was leaving it with me.  I looked at it for many weeks.  I was afraid to work on it because it seemed too personal to me.  What if she hated it?! But then, I thought "Well...she could paint it white again, I suppose."  Her birthday was approaching, so I took a chance.  I set to work, thinking about the things we had talked about over the years, reflecting on the changes she hoped to see for herself.  I came up with this design.  I'm pretty sure she liked it.  :-)
